Two female inflorescences emerging from a depression ca. 1 m from apparent host, Tessmannia sp. Split carapace ("volva") is dull brown and scabrous, outer closed inflorescence dull deep purple, inner axes bright scarlet when opening. Entire female inflorescence dried without pressing (reduced in size by ca. 50% and axes separated during drying).

Alcohol sample only taken of opening female inflorescence. Three carapace ("volva") covered inflorescences beginning to protrude at distance of 1.2 m from opening inflorescence. Apparent host, Tessmannia sp., is 4 m distant. As inflorescence opens the carapace breaks unevenly revealing deep purple color of closed spheroid inflorescence. As axes of inflorescence separate the interior floral body is brighter, deep red. See photos.
