Climbing liana, fallen on the ground. Lanceolate leaves, pale green, with decurrent limb and dentate margins. Flowers axillary, tubular-shaped, pink-purple. Calix with four filiform appendices, corolla with 4 lobes, stamens protected by the bigger upper one.

Uncommon. Climber on tree trunk with aerial roots. Leaves strongly dimorphic, somewhat coriaceous; petioles dark brown-purple. Flowering scattered along climbing stems with few- to many-floweres cymes. Bracts, petioles and calyx pale yellow-green, tinged brown-purple. Corolla crimson, with darker and paler streaks inside. Filaments and anthers dull orange-yellow. Style and stigma yellow. Fruits cylindric, arching-pendulous, yellow-green, eventually drying and splitting into numerous irregular papery parts; fruting calyx persistant.
